OFFICIAL MEDICAL UPDATE ON DAVID BANDA AKA GENERAL OZZY

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – February 16, 2026
The Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) wishes to provide an official update to the fans, friends, and the general public regarding the health status of our brother and colleague, David Banda, popularly known as General Ozzy.
Following the road traffic accident that occurred on February 14th in the Machinga area of Monze District which necessitated his immediate medical evacuation to Lusaka for specialized care Mr. Banda has undergone a series of initial clinical examinations.
Preliminary results have confirmed that Mr. Banda has sustained fractured ribs. To ensure a comprehensive assessment of any further internal injuries, medical personnel are currently conducting a full CT Scan (Neck to Pelvis).
This procedure is expected to be completed within the next two hours, after which the medical team will be able to provide a conclusive report on his full condition.
For the time being, General Ozzy remains in the Emergency Room (ER) under close observation. In accordance with hospital protocol and to allow the medical team to focus on these critical examinations, no visitors are allowed at this stage. We kindly urge all well-wishers to respect this directive until all tests and examinations are finalized.
Following the unfortunate head-on collision in Monze, which claimed the life of a dedicated police officer, General Ozzy was initially stabilized at Monze Mission Hospital. Due to the nature of his accident, the Government, through the Ministry of Information and Media, announced the government’s immediate facilitation of their swift evacuation to Lusaka to ensure they receives the highest level of observation and trauma care.
ZAM remains in constant communication with the family and the medical facility. We continue to ask for your prayers and positive thoughts during this time. We will issue a further update once the final medical report is available.
